Captains' Welcome

Don Heathcote - Captain's Welcome
This year I will have been a member of Matlock Golf Club for 25 years and I am honoured and proud to be elected Captain in my silver anniversary
year. Matlock may not be the longest course you will play at just under 6000yds, but none the less I think you will find the Tom Williamson
design a stiff challenge, especially when the wind blows and you will have to be at your best to come home with a good score. Even if your golf
is not up to scratch on the day you can not help but enjoy the setting of the moorland course in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside.  A warm
and friendly welcome will always be extended to you by the professional, caterers, house manager and their staff, and not forgetting the members
themselves. I hope you find time to fit Matlock into your schedule this year, I may be biased after 25 years but I am sure you will not be
disappointed .
Jenny Simpson - Ladies’ Captain
Thank you for visiting our website. At Matlock Golf Club we have a thriving and active Ladies Section and enjoy our golf amongst wonderful
scenery and splendid views of the Matlock area. 2011 will be the second time I have been Lady Captain, a great honour for me in a year that will
see us hosting the Derbyshire Ladies County Championships, run three Open golf events and refurbish our Ladies Locker room. I hope that our mix
of social and competitive golf, away breaks, Inter Club matches and social activities will make it a really exciting year for us all. Whether
you are looking for a Club to join or an interesting course to play I am sure you will find the challenge our course offers, the magnificent
views and our friendly welcome both enjoyable and rewarding.

Welcome from the Captain, Bob Whyld and the Lady Captain, Veda Kay

We are very honoured to be Captain and Lady Captain of Matlock Golf Club for 2012.
Some people say that Golf is a good walk 'spoiled', but at Matlock we disagree - Golf at Matlock is a very good walk with exceptional views, a friendly welcome and hopefully some good Golf !
In 2011 the Course was in superb condition and work is going on through the Winter to make even more improvements for 2012. In addition to the interesting fairways, the challenging greens and strategically placed bunkers there are around 24 species of trees and 116 varieties of wild flowers to enjoy around the Course.
Visitors of all ages are assured of a warm welcome and we will try to make your round at Matlock one to remember.
We look forward too, to welcoming anyone interested in taking up this great game of Golf and enquiries from potential new members, whatever their standard, are always welcome.
